Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Discreet Companion Services for Women (“Discreet Companion”, “I”, “me” or “my”) uses cookies and similar storage or access technologies on discreet-companion.co.uk. It should be read together with the Privacy Policy.

This WordPress website is hosted on Krystal’s Onyx platform and uses Jetpack services supplied by Automattic. Complianz manages cookie choices; Google Analytics provides optional visit statistics.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files stored on a computer, phone or other device when a website is visited. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, scripts and local storage. They can be used to operate and secure a website, remember choices and provide statistical information about how the website is used.

2. Technologies used on this website

Essential operation and security

WordPress, the hosting platform and Jetpack may use cookies or similar technologies where necessary to deliver pages, maintain security, prevent abuse, support the enquiry form and provide authorised website-administration or login functions. These technologies may be session-based or may remain for a limited period, depending on their purpose.

Site statistics and performance

Jetpack Stats and related performance technologies are used to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used and to improve its content and performance. Information processed may include the page visited, referring page, date and time, browser or device information, browser language, approximate country and internet protocol address. If a visitor is already signed in to WordPress.com, Automattic may also process the relevant WordPress.com account information.

I receive aggregated reports, such as page-view totals and general referral information, rather than information intended to identify individual visitors. Automattic states that the underlying Jetpack Stats logs are retained for a limited period for the purpose of producing those statistics.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is used only after you accept statistics cookies. It helps me understand visits, traffic sources and how pages are used. Information may include page addresses and titles, referring websites, browser and device details, approximate location and cookie identifiers. The setup does not include enquiry-form contents, names, email addresses or telephone numbers as tracking fields.

The first-party _ga cookie distinguishes visitors, and _ga_* maintains session information. Google lists a default lifetime of up to two years for these cookies, refreshed by subsequent use; browser limits or deletion may shorten this. Further details are available in Google’s cookie documentation and its explanation of information received from websites.

Preferences and consent choices

Complianz uses cookies beginning with cmplz_ to remember your choices and the policy version, normally for up to 365 days. These include cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_consented_services, cmplz_functional, cmplz_marketing, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_preferences and cmplz_statistics. These are consent-management cookies rather than Analytics visitor identifiers. Browser local storage may also hold banner settings.

3. Advertising and social-media tracking

This website does not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural-profiling cookies or social-media tracking pixels. If this changes, this policy will be updated and consent will be requested before any non-exempt technology is used where the law requires it.

4. Why these technologies are used

Essential technologies are used to provide, secure and administer the website and remember privacy choices. Optional Google Analytics helps me understand and improve website use and is activated only after statistics consent. Refusing statistics cookies does not prevent you from browsing or making an enquiry.

5. Your choices and how to object

  • Use Accept statistics, Reject optional or View preferences in the banner. To change or withdraw consent later, use the cookie preference controls below and turn Statistics off.
  • Withdrawing consent stops future Google Analytics collection through this setup. Previously stored Analytics cookies may remain until they expire or you delete them through your browser settings. Withdrawal does not automatically erase information already collected.
  • You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings.
  • You can use browser privacy or content-blocking controls to prevent statistical scripts, including scripts served from stats.wp.com, from loading.
  • You can object free of charge to the use of statistical technologies by using the Contact page and beginning your message with “Cookie or analytics objection”.

Blocking essential technologies may affect some website functions. Because the statistical reports available to me are aggregated, I may not be able to identify or remove information relating to a particular past visit.

6. Services provided by Automattic

WordPress.com and Jetpack are provided by Automattic. Their use of cookies and visitor information is explained in the Automattic Cookie Policy and the Jetpack Privacy Center.

7. Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised if the website, its services or the applicable legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the current version.

8. Contact

For a question about cookies, privacy or your choices, please use the Contact page and write “Cookie or privacy request” at the beginning of your message.
